St. Tammany Parish Fire District No. 12 recently welcomed the community to its newest fire station. An open house was held at the station, at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Fuschia Street southeast of Covington, on April 25.
Fire Chief Darrell Guilott and Joe Mitternight, chairman of the district’s board, briefly addressed the audience, then asked everyone to gather with them for the ceremonial “uncoupling” of the firehouse to formally open the station.
The station is one of three the district said last year it planned to build.
Fire District 12 covers a 63-square mile area north, east and south of Covington.
